Subject: Uphold Constitutional Protections and Human Rights in U.S. Deportation Policy

Dear [Representative/Senator Last Name],

I am writing to express deep concern following the Trump administration’s recent petition to the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn lower court rulings that halted the deportation of Venezuelan migrants under the Alien Enemies Act. These deportations raise grave constitutional and humanitarian concerns — and now, the administration is asking the Court to eliminate even the limited judicial oversight currently protecting due process.

As a constituent who believes in the foundational principles of our nation — due process, human dignity, and the rule of law — I am alarmed by the actions already taken and the dangerous precedent that may follow.

On March 15, 2025, hundreds of Venezuelan migrants — including asylum seekers and individuals with no criminal records — were deported without hearings and flown to El Salvador’s CECOT prison, a facility widely documented for inhumane treatment and credible reports of torture. These deportations occurred despite a federal court’s Temporary Restraining Order prohibiting their removal.

As a nation that upholds democratic values, we must not outsource human rights violations, nor can we justify indefinite detention without charges, hearings, or legal recourse. These actions are not only a violation of individual rights — they represent an erosion of the rule of law and a challenge to the authority of our courts.

I urge you to:
-
Publicly condemn the deportation of individuals without due process or judicial review.
-
Press for an investigation into whether court orders were violated and who authorized these removals.
-
Demand transparency about the legal agreements with El Salvador and the conditions at CECOT.
-
Support legislation that reaffirms due process rights and prevents the misuse of antiquated wartime laws for immigration enforcement.
We must hold our government to the standards enshrined in our Constitution. If we fail to act, we risk becoming indistinguishable from the authoritarian regimes we’ve long opposed.

Thank you for your leadership and for standing up for the principles that define our democracy.

Sincerely,
[Your Full Name]
